The Silvering Process

We make sure we do the absolute best job during the silver process, to ensure your piece looks beautiful afterwards. The process begins by soaking the glass in some mild stripping solution for a few days. This will bring the piece back to clear glass form. Before the glass can be silvered, it must be cleaned thoroughly with a form of jewler's rouge. Afterwards, new silver can be applied to the back of the mirror using a spray process. The silvered glass dries overnight, and then a protective paint is applied over the silver. The mirror is then cleaned completely and wrapped for delivery.

Distressed Silvering

The terms "distressed" and/or "veining" happens during the silvering process, as the glass is contaminated for a beautiful antique look. This can be done at different levels, such as a light tone for a faint appearance or a darker tone for something more dramatic.
